Pool Security updates

Brian February 11th, 2010

The HOA has invested in some additional security at the pool which will impact all residents when the pool opens in the spring.

1. After the pool closed for winter, a new card based access system was installed on the gate. Instead of entering a code on the door, each home will be issued electronic access cards which will open the gate simply by waving them over the card reader on the gate. This will help us better control access, reducing use by non-residents, and letting us know who was using the pool if anything is damaged. Residents must be current on their dues to receive access cards, and cards will be distributed before the pool opens in the Spring.

2. In addition to the access system, 3 remotely monitored and motion-activated cameras have been installed around the pavilion to monitor the pool and playground areas. Our hope is that this will discourage vandalism and unauthorized after-hours use.

3. Lastly, we have extended the height of the western pool fence to discourage fence-hopping.

It’s not working… just left the pool and there were about a dozen kids there, none of which had a key card or was accompanied by a parent. Each one said, “I live here, but my key card is broken.” I finally left the pool because they were so obnoxious. The older kids were throwing smaller kids around the pool like ragdolls and also doing cannonballs. I was trying to just float and relax. Ruined my time… I have photos I can post if anyone would like to try to identify the kids as their own. I heard one of the smaller children being called Will…
